Attendant Care Service

Job Overview:
Provides assistance to individuals in their home or community to help them maintain independence and participate in daily activities. Tasks include personal care, meal prep, housekeeping, shopping, and transportation assistance as needed.

Requirements:

  • Service must be provided in the member’s home or community.
  • Not to be provided in a group home, skilled nursing facility, or other institutional settings.
  • Cannot replace care provided by natural supports.
  • Supervision and monitoring required, with periodic reviews for service quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with personal care: bathing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and dressing.
  • Help with housekeeping, including cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
  • Shop for groceries and medications and assist with certified service animal care.
  • Ensure safety and maintain sanitary living conditions.
  • Assist with self-administered medications or reminders.
  • Provide necessary supervision and behavioral support.

Service Utilization:

  • Assists with incidental transportation for program activities.
  • Rate based on hourly direct service; no more than three members per service staff at a time.

Staff Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide physical and emotional support.
  • Direct service staff must comply with AHCCCS training and testing requirements.

Training and Documentation:

  • Staff must meet AHCCCS training standards and be monitored for competence.
  • Maintain daily records, timesheets, and necessary documentation for billing and service compliance.
